Morris & Co. x The Huntington
The Unfinished Works
Morris & Co. x The Huntington | The Unfinished Works is an archival fabric and wallpaper collection steeped in British Heritage. From the Huntingdon's remarkable library of documents come the handcrafted and unmistakably original designs of William Morris and John Henry Dearle, translated by the designers at Morris & Co. across wallpapers, borders, fabrics, weaves and embroideries.
Previously incomplete sketches have been thoughtfully uncovered and meticulously interpreted into new design iterations, honouring the original documents with the detailed eye and creative talent of the Morris & Co. modern-day design studio. Upholding and honouring a 164-year legacy, The Unfinished Works is an astounding series of designs, finally completed in a moment of art history for the company founded by William Morris, to be enjoyed by generations to come.
Fabrics are produced in Britain using intricate techniques, such as warp-printed weaves, embroidery, hand weaving and overdying by specialist British mills for superior handcrafted finishes. Through this exploration of sketches and artwork, embroideries, jacquards and printed damasks have been refined and coloured to honour the original intention of each design. Unique stories of making are explored in fabrics, embracing heritage techniques and modern applications, and brought to Dubai by Design Library under exclusive license.
